I surveyed twenty five students, and 44% said that parents should be responsible for what their kids are watching, and listening to.
44% said that the companies should be responsible for censoring the products that they are producing. 12% of the students were neutral.
2) Knowledge of Censorship:
All artists know before they write their stuff, that some things can not be displayed to the public. Knowing this, they should watch what they are saying in their music, and putting in their videos. So in some ways, the artists should be responsible for their own work, because they are the ones writing it. I understand it is a way to express different feelings, but honestly, there are better ways of expressing anger than swearing every other word. And there are other ways to express love, other than being vulgar about it.
5) Does censoring music take away from the artist's expression?
"I think music is definitily a way to express yourself. censoring a song would be like drawing all over an artist's painting." - Chynna Herman.
"An artist should be able to say whatever they want in their music. I think that they understand that when their music is displayed to the public though, that there are some limits to it. Hense the fact that they sign a contract, so if they really have a problem with it, then they wouldn't let their stuff be shown through them." - Sarah Singer
"I don't thnk its really that big of a deal if like, a few words or something is cut out of a song. I think the artist would rather have their song out their a little edited, then not at all. - Marissa Kosko-Blyler.
